Palladium is an excellent electrical contact material, and the palladium coating is an effective diffusion barrier. High-frequency components often use palladium as a surface coating or an intermediate layer to prevent the base metal from diffusing to the outer surface. Palladium plating is mainly used for electrical contacts, protection and decorative purposes.
